Delicious fresh, wild caught Sockeye salmon this week from Sand Point, Alaska. (I needed a geography lesson! Click here to View)
From our Sea to Table connection, “Located on the remote Popof Island near where the Alaska Peninsula meets the Aleutian Island chain, Sand Point is one home to the largest fishing fleet in the Aleutian Islands. Established in 1898, the community of Sand Point has a strong Russian heritage. Sockeye salmon is a highly seasonal fishery, typically landing late-May through mid-July. The flesh of sockeye salmon is an incredibly vibrant red. It is a lean fish but high in omega-3s, and is dense and full-flavored. It is usually the variety favored for raw preparations.”
Sockeye Salmon – $25.99 per lb.
(approx. 1 lb fillets)
