Cut Flower Plant Starts from Windy Acres Horticulture
So many of you love your cutting gardens planted last year!
If you’d like to grow gorgeous bouquets of your own this spring, but don’t know where to start, we’ve got you covered.
Carrie Kling, from Windy Acres Flower Farm in Middleport, is putting together trays of 30 large robust Specialty Cut Flower varieties ready for planting this spring late May.
Expect this unique and convenient collection to include annuals, perennials, and hard to find varieties – Dahlia, Marigold, Zinnia, Statice, Dianthus, Snapdragon, Aster, Double Petunia, Calla, Echinacea, Monarda, Rudbeckia, and Forget Me Not.
Content will depend on what’s growing at the time that will make lovely cut flowers. An informational sheet will be included covering variety names, bloom time and best harvest practices. Expect to cover about 15 square feet of space, planted 6-8 inches apart. You can certainly add them to your established garden as well.
